Republican proponents of erecting the statue of the conservative justice argue its 'only fitting' for the Georgia native to be honored.
Thomas is currently the longest-serving justice on the Supreme Court, appointed by former Presidentand seated in 1991. The top judge—who hails from Pin Point, Georgia—is also only the second Black justice to serve on the nation's top court.
