David Mundee After two years at her alma mater, including a highly successful first year, Lacy Holmes has resigned as head girls basketball coach at Geneva County, according to school superintendent Becky Birdsong.
Birdsong said the coaching job resignation was effective immediately and the teaching role was effective at the end of the school year. She coached the final three weeks of the season after giving birth to her son, Bryer, on Feb. 6, the day the area postseason tournament began. While a player at Geneva County, Holmes scored 3,045 career points, which is still a Geneva County school record. In addition, she finished with 1,063 career rebounds, 614 assists, 579 steals and 328 made 3-pointers with the assists, steals and made 3-pointers all likely Geneva County school records.
