Kelvin Gastelum was once so excited to fight Israel Adesanya he accidentally took off his shorts
The 185lb duo clashed in the UFC 236 co-main event at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia and Gastelum was clearly pumped about the opportunity in front of him.run to the octagon, the Ultimate Fighter Season 17 winner was fixated on his opponent who had already entered the arena and was ready to fight.
In fact, Gastelum was so focused on mean-mugging Adesanya, he inadvertently stripped down to his underwear during his final preparations for the fight.After realising what he had done, the American put his shorts back on while continuing to glare at his rival during one of the more awkward moments in UFC history.
Gastelum’s pre-fight faux pas was quickly forgotten by MMA fans as he and Adesanya battled bravely for five rounds in a fight that is remembered as one of the best of all time. The now-31-year-old hurt Adesanya early and often in their gruelling 25-minute battle but ultimately fell to a unanimous decision defeat that he’s never quite recovered from.
