You can’t pin all the blame on 22-year-old Mads Sogaard and Mandolese because neither were supposed to be put in this position. But this is the cards they’ve been dealt and unless they can find a way to get consistency this situation won’t improve.
Since the 35-year-old Talbot was sent home from Seattle, Sogaard has posted a 1-4-1 record with a .845 save-percentage and a. 4.49 GAA. Mandolese was winless in his one start this month after allowing five goals last Sunday in 5-1 loss to the Calgary Flames.Article content “Give them credit. You always want to make that extra save to get the win, it’s frustrating but I’m just going to keep on battling and making sure I work extremely hard every day,” Sogaard said.
“To see the boys work so hard and give us a chance to win and get two points was so exciting. It was a great atmosphere and it exciting game to be part of.”There are moments where he looks like he lacks confidence and that has to be concerning. This experience will be good for his development in the long run, but he’ll have to make sure he takes the positives from this when the final buzzer sounds on the season.
