Postmedia believes the following groups have made bids:The Remington Group, a Toronto-based real estate development corporation and one of the largest builders in Ontario, has recruited Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds to be a partner in a consortium that has entered a bid and is determined to build a new rink at LeBreton Flats.
A source said the Remington Group has a vision of helping Ottawa elevate its place on the world stage, and that will be music to the ears of Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. The indications are this group has a lot of weight behind it and is determined to bring the Stanley Cup home.The Toronto-based billionaire, the owner of the Andlauer Healthcare Group, has been invested in this process since the beginning.
We’re also told Farm Boy executive Jeff York was trying to raise $100 million from a group of 20 local investors at $5 million each to be a part of Andlauer’s bid. One of York’s partners in raising capital is Jean Pierre Poulin, the chief executive officer of the Devcore Group. They sold their minority share in the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Fenway Sports Group in 2021 and would like to get back into the NHL.
There’s also talk Neko Sparks, a Los Angeles-based producer, has put together a consortium and entered a bid two weeks ago.Article content
