Officers praised as search uncovers weapons during patrols, knife sweeps and cuckooing visits in areas of Leeds
A group of males fled from police conducting high visibility patrols and knife sweeps across an area of Leeds last night .
The males fled and a subsequent search of the surrounding area and parkland by officers uncovered two machetes that were seized.West Yorkshire Police posted the news on Facebook and received an immediate response. Maria Perkins posted: "It's sickening to think they had these and what they were going to use them for/on. I grew up on the Rookwoods and later lived on the Wykebecks, and it was never that bad. On social media, West Yorkshire Police said: "Officers from Inner and Outer East NPT [Neighbourhood Patrol Teams] conducted joint high visibility patrols, knife sweeps and cuckooing visits last Sunday evening, across the Wykebecks and Rookwoods.
