Dam being built more than 100 years ago

This week, the city of San Diego, which operates the Lake Hodges Reservoir in North County, reopened the lake to wind sports. From the Archives takes a look back to the formative days of the lake with this picture of the San Dieguito Creek dam being built on March 14, 1918, by the San Dieguito Mutual Water Co. The city bought the dam and reservoir in 1925. At capacity, the reservoir has 1,234 surface acres, a maximum depth of 115 feet and 27 shoreline miles, according to the city.
