From Lionel Messi magic to majestic Kylian Mbappe - talkSPORTDrive watches FOUR World Cup games in one day FIFAWorldCup
When talkSPORT sent me to the World Cup draw in Doha earlier this year, I met up with my pal Micky Gray who was already out in Qatar.
The seed was sown, the idea wouldn’t go away, and once it was in my head there was no way something so exciting could be ignored. Somehow I was going to make this happen. The biggest problem for me was the blazing sun. I’m a ginger and I can’t handle the sun so I covered up hugely and managed to avoid any issues. We left on around 80 minutes – leaving at full time would’ve meant getting caught up in the crowds and not making it to the next game. And lengthy injury time at this tournament would reduce travel time between games.
So leaving Al Janoub, we had to make our way to Education City – around 17 miles. First task was getting on a shuttle bus from the stadium to the Metro. The walk to the shuttle bus took a good 15 minutes, and all of a sudden time was running out before kick-off for Poland against Saudi Arabia. talkSPORT’s European football expert Andy Brassell was there and bought us each a much-needed ice cold water – what a man! Mbappe scored a beauty, Christiansen equalised – and then we left on 82.
