Silverman advises patience with someone who is trying to work on a problem but who maybe doesn’t get it right first time. Conversely, those whose actions don’t follow their intentions or who peddle the line: “It’s just who I am, and I can’t change that,” are probably not right for you.
Relationship psychotherapist Dipti Tait agrees. “People who are right for each other means that they are happy for the other person to be themselves and there isn’t much comparing, wishing or hoping things were different or wanting that person to change.”People often get stuck in relationship patterns that aren’t good for them, yet there can be a comfort to that familiarity. Thomas advises that it does pay to listen if loved ones express doubts about the person you’re with.
