On Friday at 7:13 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a flood warning in effect until 10:15 a.m. for Franklin County.
"Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water," states the weather service. "Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."A flash flood warning is issued when a flash flood is either imminent or already occurring.
When stopping by the roadside is your only option, position your vehicle as far off the road as possible, ideally beyond guardrails. Keep your headlights on and activate emergency flashers to alert other drivers of your position.
