Drescher was elected with 81.4% of the vote, defeating Maya Gilbert-Dunbar, who took 18.6%.took 70.3% in her race for a second term as secretary-treasurer. Her opponent, Peter Antico, got 29.7%.

Drescher was first elected in 2021, and has worked to unify the warring factions within the union. The union has been divided for more than a decade between the Unite for Strength party, which Drescher represents, and the more militant Membership First faction. “It is a story of the solidarity of SAG-AFTRA members,” said Ben Whitehair, the union’s executive vice president. “Imagine Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell saying we actually agree enough on something that we’re going to run together and support each other’s campaigns. That’s unconscionable, right? And that is what happened.”
