Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can vote for their favourite of four books by local Newfoundland and Labrador authors that are competing for the 2023 N.L. Reads title. FileST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Four books by local Newfoundland and Labrador authors are vying for the 2023 N.L. Reads title and voting is now open for the contest's grand finale.
The four books include Urchin by Kate Story, The Wards by Terry Doyle, The Good Women of Safe Harbour by Bobbi French and The Love Olympics by Claire Wilkshire.The books were selected by Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries librarians from the pool of fiction and non-fiction titles published by local authors in the previous or current year.
Each book has a reader-advocate, with all four advocates coming together to debate which title deserves to be crowned winner at the finale at the A.C. Hunter Public Library on March 15. The winning book will be decided by receiving the most public votes, combining in-house audience ballots with votes collected from readers throughout the province.The grand finale will be an in-person and online hybrid event at the library starting at 6:30 p.m.
