Epic has been working on something for a while, a way to get around the ban, in order to get Fortnite back on both iOS and Android devices
GeForce NOW has existed on these platforms for a while now, so it stands to reason that Fortnite, like their other games, should be allowed to function within the same ecosystem. But given that Apple has a personal vendetta against the game at this point, it remains to be seen if they will respond to this, as they clearly do not want anyone playing Fortnite on an Apple device ever again, after the very public war Epic has waged against them.
The Apple v. Epic case did not go Epic’s way, for the most part, other than a ruling that Apple must let developers link out to other payment options outside of ones that get the app store cut. All of this is going to appeal, but in the interim, that still means no Fortnite on iOS. This is a way around that, and it’s hard to know what the case Apple would make here would be, as they’d have to ban something that’s streaming through their own native web browser.
Right now, you can join the waitlist for the beta, and you do not need to be an existing GeForce NOW member to participate. I am very curious to see how this goes, both in terms of how gameplay feels, but more in terms of if and what Google and Apple do to respond.
