Levandowski, Travis Kalanick’s “brother from another mother,” has been charged with stealing trade secrets around self-driving technology
After a contentious round of press, Uber and Waymothe suit in 2018 for a mere $245 million—far short of the $1.9 billion in estimated damages Waymo had claimed—seemingly so Google could protect its investment in the ride-share giant as it prepared to go public. “When you think about an impending I.P.O. that Google has a stake in, everyone wins in this lawsuit, legal fees aside,” a source close to Uber told the Hive in February 2018.
