Chambers and South Oak Cliff won the Class 5A Division II state championship in his senior year, giving DISD its first state title since 1958 and its first UIL state championship since 1950.

SMU currently boasts the 13th-rated transfer portal class, according to 247Sports. With Chambers’ addition, SMU has landed 21 commits through the transfer portal before the start of the 2023 season. Notable names include former Little Elm and Colorado cornerback Keyshon Mills, and former Miami receiver Romello Brinson.
