Former Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon was arrested on Sunday, the BBC and Sky reported, after police said a 52-year-old woman was in custody being questioned as part of its investigation into the Scottish National Party's funding.

Former Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon was arrested on Sunday in connection with a Police Scotland investigation into the Scottish National Party's funding, her spokesperson said. "Nicola Sturgeon has today ... by arrangement with Police Scotland, attended an interview where she was to be arrested and questioned," a spokesperson for Sturgeon said.
Earlier, Police Scotland said on Twitter a 52-year-old woman had been arrested as a suspect in connection with the ongoing investigation into the funding and finances of the SNP.
