Former Ohio State safety Vonn Bell is returning to the Cincinnati Bengals on a one-year contract after one season with the Carolina Panthers.
After one season with the Carolina Panthers, Bell is returning to the Cincinnati Bengals on a one-year contract, his agent David Canter announced Thursday., Bell will make $6 million in 2024, though that money will be paid by the Panthers, as his 2024 salary was fully guaranteed in the three-year contract the Panthers gave him last offseason. Bell’s contract in Cincinnati is a veteran minimum deal.
The former Ohio State safety previously played for the Bengals from 2020-22, serving as a captain in all three of his seasons with the team. He started 55 total games between the regular season and playoffs in those three years, recording 328 total tackles with six interceptions, eight forced fumbles, 15 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and 22 passes defended.
Bell helped lead the Bengals to back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons, making a crucial interception in the 2022 AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs to propel the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance.A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Bell is entering his ninth NFL season. He spent his first four NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints before joining the Bengals for his initial stint with the team.
