Hitchcock coached in the NHL for 23 years, but first rose to prominence with the WHL\u0027s Kamloops Blazers in the 1980s.
This would prove to be the high point of an NHL coaching career that spanned three decades.
The defensively-minded Hitchcock was fired by Dallas during the 2001-02 season, but was hired by Philadelphia the next season. His Flyers made the Eastern Conference final in 2004. The St. Louis Blues hired him before the 2011-12 season and he guided the Blues to the playoffs each season, making the conference final in 2016.Article content
