Cricket is the bat-and-ball sport with the most established history of best-on-best national-team play with its Test matches and the World Cup. The other great bat-and-ball sport answers with the World Baseball Classic, the 2023 edition which is currently ongoing.
Four HarbourCats alumni were selected to play for two nations, including Pivetta, who was unable to do so. Other former WCL players on the Canadian team are pitchers Trevor Brigden and Curtis Taylor out of the Kelowna Falcons and infielder Damiano Palmegiani out of the Port Angeles Lefties. Former Falcons pitcher Alex Webb is throwing for Great Britain.
The Wenatchee AppleSox are represented by alumni pitchers Ryan Long with Great Britain and Zack Weiss with Israel.
