Is third Juno nom the charm for N.S.-raised music teacher? | SaltWire #junos #canada #musicteacherClosing arguments at a former Halifax teacher’s trial on historical sex charges were adjourned Friday because the elderly accused was in hospital.

Lawyers were supposed to make their closing arguments Friday, but Hutchison informed the court his client had been hospitalized Thursday after falling ill and vomiting blood.Justice Richard Coughlan scheduled a phone conference with lawyers for next Wednesday at lunchtime. The hope is that a date for closing arguments will be set at that time. The first complainant testified last week that he was abused on one occasion, while sleeping over at Poirier’s apartment in Dartmouth with a friend.

Hutchison asked the judge to grant a directed verdict and dismiss the charges in relation to that complainant because of insufficient evidence on the element of identity. The man said Poirier would pick him up at his Halifax home and drive him to his apartment in Highfield Park, where the teacher would assault him while watching pornographic videos.
