Former DCCC executive director Dan Sena is opening a new consulting firm with a longtime collaborator
A smaller share of the firm’s work, Sena said, will guide advocacy groups looking to raise their issues in Washington and navigate the new political world of divided government and a Democratic House majority., now the assistant speaker, the No. 4 Democrat in House leadership. Their firm’s new websiteLuján and Pelosi, who returned to the speakership with the new Democratic majority this year.
“Dan and Scott were essential to winning back the House,” Luján said in a statement. “They are two of the premier strategists in the Democratic Party today and understand better than most that every campaign is unique and deserves an individualized approach." The firm will take on a range of clients including gubernatorial races and outside groups but will be “House-oriented” for a few election cycles, Kozar said. But as House clients elected in 2018 move on to other political races, “so will we,” he added.
Sena and Kozar have known each other for nearly a decade. They met in 2011, when Sena was the political director of the Democratic Governors Association, and Kozar was making ads in the Kentucky governor's race — and when both of them had new daughters born within days of each other.
