The closure of the chapel at Valley Regional Hospital has led to concerns from the community over a lack of a spiritual refuge at the Kentville facility. The former chapel was closed to make room for new simulation training equipment, but a new spiritual space is being developed. KIRK STARRATTKENTVILLE, N.S. — The closure of the chapel at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville has a former chaplain concerned.
“The chapel has been a place of refuge for thousands of patients, families, and staff,” McGregor said. “It is deeply concerning that there will be no space for these spiritual concerns.” They said there has been no interruption of spiritual care services at the hospital. They are committed to continue working with spiritual health providers to address issues and concerns that may impact the quality of care provided to patients and families.
The simulation equipment provides an opportunity for multidisciplinary professionals to train together and deliver the highest standard of patient care. This form of training is fundamental to health care provided to the community and is instrumental in recruiting, training, and retaining staff and physicians.
McGregor challenges the statement from administration that there has been no interruption of spiritual care services at the hospital.
