Unifor, the union representing more than 18,000 Canadian auto workers, is trying to hammer out a new deal with the big three Detroit companies – General Motors , Ford and Stellantis.
They decided to tackle a deal with Ford first and use that deal as a blueprint for the other two car companies. As a result, they extended the contracts of GM and Stellantis workers while attempting to reach a deal with Ford. Unifor says the two sides are still very far apart and the contract for Ford workers expires at 11:59 p.m. Monday.Unifor will be providing an update Monday afternoon.Ctrl+Enter
