Beaches on the Hawaiian island of Maui were closed for the second straight day after several tiger sharks were spotted in the water
Maui County officials closed about two miles of shoreline, which includes the Kamaole Beach Parks.They said in a Facebook post Tuesday one of the tiger sharks was 10-15 feet in length and was 300 yards off the beach, while another one, about 10 feet in length, was about 100 yards off the beach.Authorities posted signs directing people to stay out of the water because of the sightings, the county said, and the Maui Fire Department was assessing the safety of the waters throughout the day Tuesday.
