OTTAWA—Former prime minister Brian Mulroney's death has seemingly struck a chord with Canadians based on the outpouring we have seen in many quarters since his passing was announced on the evening of Feb. 29. Mulroney always argued history would mostly look favourably on his time in office and the accomplishments that came with it. It was amazing to be part of something you rarely see these days, and that happened to my son and me last Friday evening when we attended an Ottawa Senators game.
L. a few years ago, when the future of the White Rose oil project hung in the balance. He gave a well-timed address to remind people of the imperative to continue with the province's offshore energy projects. Mulroney's great gesture of attending and speaking at Crosbie's state funeral in January of 2020 was yet again a sign of his commitment to not only his friend, but also to the province for which both men did so much.
