Philadelphia Flyers interim general manager Danny Briere believes the team needs a rebuilding process to become contenders for a Stanley Cup.

The Philadelphia Flyers have fired general manager Chuck Fletcher and promoted former franchise great Danny Briere to the interim job, according to a person familiar with the decision. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Friday, March 10, 2023, because the move had not officially been announced.
The Flyers, who open a seven-game homestand this week, have won two games since Feb. 9 and are on a three-game losing streak.and the pair are on the same page when it comes to the hard work needed to at least make the Flyers competitive, much less in the hunt for Philadelphia’s first Stanley Cup since 1975.
“I want to make sure rebuild doesn’t mean fire sale,” he said. “We’re not going to get rid of everybody.”
