Florida has reversed its prohibition of the AP Psychology course in its schools.
The Sunshine State previously barred teaching Advanced Placement psychology as it stands, telling superintendents that sexual orientation and gender identity curriculum is “illegal under state law” stemming from Gov.
TRUMP'S TRIFECTA: THREE THINGS FORMER PRESIDENT IS COUNTING ON TO AVOID HISTORIC CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. sent an email to school superintendents giving them the green light that “AP Psychology may be taught in its entirety.” "Today’s statement from the Florida Department of Education represents revised guidance on AP Psychology," the College Board said in a statement to the Washington Examiner."We hope now that Florida teachers will be able to teach the full course, including content on gender and sexual orientation, without fear of punishment in the upcoming school year."
According to the College Board, district superintendents are seeking"additional clarity from the department." The Department of Education did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment.Florida schools are set to begin classes on Aug 10.
