The Panthers dropped their second straight — the first time in the postseason Florida has lost back-to-back games — and New York took a 2-1 lead in the series. Florida captain Aleksander Barkov said the Panthers weren’t frustrated, especially with plenty of time to respond in the third.Barkov and Gustav Forsling scored less than two minutes apart early in the third to even the game, and Florida pushed, with plenty of late chances to put the game away.
“Maybe that’s the thing,” Barkov said, “when you have the puck a lot in the offensive zone, you think ‘OK, we’ve had the puck so much, maybe they’re not going to go on the offense now.’ Then all of a sudden they go. But there’s a reason they’re a good team, so we’ve got to be aware of that.”
