Florida braces for the coronavirus to hit the state's large elderly population as cases surge

Knapp said that in addition to following CDC, state and local guidelines, the 38,000 long-term facilities in Florida are relying on regulatory agencies, biweekly testing for employees, heightened infection control protocols , non-essential visitor restrictions, mandatory face masks and requirements that hospitals test patients before discharging them to nursing homes, with alternative locations for the infected, to mitigate threats to a very vulnerable population.
