Flex Alerts can be issued when high temperatures generate strong demand for power, with everyone staying indoors and blasting the AC.
So a Flex Alert has been issued in California amid a heat wave, but what exactly does that mean?has issued a statewide Flex Alert that will take effect Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.
"The conservation measures can help the power grid during a time of tight demand and supply, and avoid power interruptions. Energy reduction during a Flex Alert can prevent further emergency measures, including rotating power outages," California ISO says.
