Flames need Markstrom and Vladar to get hot after dreadful stretch coming off all-star break yyc
Vladar was shaky in net to start against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night, putting the Flames behind the eight-ball by allowing two goals on the first five shots he faced.
It’s something you’d obviously prefer didn’t happen, but the 33-year-old Markstrom said there weren’t any major pre-game adjustments that he felt were necessary for either himself or Vladar. “It is what it is, we’ve just got to come up with some saves. If it’s shot one or two, or 40 and 41, or 30 and 32, it’s two goals. Obviously, you don’t want to start behind and start chasing the game, because I feel like it’s obviously easier to play with a lead than it is behind.”
While Vladar was hot throughout the early weeks of 2023, he’s seen his performance level drop recently. He’s allowed 14 goals in his last four starts and only lasted one period on Tuesday.
