Superstar country crossover artist Shania Twain is back with the Queen of Me Tour.
What does impress fans about this country/pop crossover megastar is her ability to keep on coming back. Five years since she wowed crowds on 2018’s Now Tour, Twain is once again riding high in the charts with Queen of Me. Her sixth album, and the first to ship with a parental advisory label, entered the Top 10 in Canada, Australia, the U.S. and was her third No. 1 in the U.K.
Pretty good results for someone who nearly lost her voice forever due to dysphonia and the effects of Lyme disease before recording 2017’s Now. As she prepares for back-to-back concerts in Vancouver, as well as a final tour date on Nov.
At a second date on that same tour in April, 1999, The Province’s John P. McLaughlin tapped into what has been key to the singer’s enduring success, the hard work she puts into engaging audiences from the stage: “Whatever else Shania Twain may or may not be, she is first-and-foremost all about fun and there was a packed house of 17,000-plus people who had a ball last night.”
This thread carries across all of the artist’s tours, right up to yours truly reviewing her May 5, 2018, back-to-back gigs at Rogers Arena on the comeback NOW Tour: “Twain talked a lot about coming back from a hard time and her life’s course over the past decade. It has been well-documented how her divorce, complete vocal paralysis due to complications of Lyme disease and abusive upbringing were major hurdles to clear to come back … Shania NOW is every bit as good as Shania then.
