Update: Photo released of slain off-duty LAPD officer 27-year-old Fernando Arroyos as investigation continues into his shooting death.
None of the five had been charged with murder, and their names were not yet released, officials said in a press release distributed later Tuesday.
An off duty LAPD officer was shot in South Los Angeles. Robert Kovacik reports for the NBC4 News at 11 p.m. on Jan. 10, 2022. An argument ensued and Arroyos was shot, detectives said. Arroyos exchanged gunfire with at least one of the robbers, LAPD Chief Michel Moore said.Deputies took Arroyos to a hospital where he died.
Moore said authorities recovered the officer’s handgun and a firearm believed used by a participant in the crime.
