First slice of £100m Darwen Town Deal cash lands - but nine projects could be scaled back
The first slice of the government’s £25million grant towards the £100m Darwen Town Deal has now arrived with the borough council.
But he warned some of the nine projects included in the scheme to transform the town may have to be scaled back because of inflation. Cllr Riley was tackled on delays in getting the money out of Whitehall by Darwen East ward’s Cllr Dave Smith who said: “It’s not often I get up to agree with Jake Berry MP.

When we will actually get our hands on this money, why is the government being so slow in releasing it and when we can actually make a start on some of the excellent schemes that we have put forward?”
