Researchers have made a significant breakthrough in the development of the first-ever vaccine for the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a virus that causes infectious mononucleosis (IM, or 'mono') – also known as glandular fever. The team of scientists, from the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Australia, have been able to design a vaccine targeting in mice, which are key players in the functioning of the body's immune system.
