Tesla's Cybertruck now boasts cutting-edge dry-cathode 4680 batteries, promising enhanced range, performance, and cost-efficiency.
Tesla recently unveiled its Cybertruck equipped with innovative dry-cathode 4680 batteries, marking a significant milestone in battery technology.
The new model is most likely to advance both technology and cost efficiency. The dry-cathode technology is expected to enhance the Cybertruck’s range and performance while significantly reducing production costs.Tesla acquired Maxwell five years ago to use its dry electrode coating process for battery cell production. At the time, Tesla was exclusively producing battery cells in partnership with Panasonic, but the acquisition made it clear that it wanted to establish in-house cell production.
“It may be a production down day , but a lot of interesting activity nonetheless at Giga Texas. Crash test display & discussion, interesting car carrier loading up a @Cybertruck, nice black wrapped Cybertruck with blue logo & outbound lot transport in progress,” posted Tegtmeyer on X on July 26. The testing for validation of Tesla’s first prototype Cybertruck equipped with in-house dry cathode 4680 cells commenced in July.
