Barton was dismissed for insubordination and deceit after using police databases to seek information on people involved in his acrimonious divorce.Barton and his ex-wife split in the summer of 2017 and data searches were conducted between September 2017 and March 2018. “The presiding officer reviewed the witness testimony and documentary evidence and concluded that the applicant had conducted the impugned searches for a non-police purpose,” Strekaf said in her written decision.
