The fire started shortly after 1:30 p.m. at a home along the 6100 block of Gillespie Street and spread to two other rowhomes. Neighbors told NBC10 they were playing with their Christmas gifts when they heard screams coming from next door.
SkyForce10 was live over the scene where firefighters could be seen on the roof of one of the homes. Another home was completely engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control at 2:35 p.m. A total of 12 people were displaced and three homes were impacted. No residents or firefighters were injured.Sign up for NBC Philadelphia newsletters."For this holiday season we're asking everyone, call 311 for smoke alarms," Philadelphia Captain Derek Bowmer said."We don't know if there were smoke alarms in there. There could have been. For a fire escape plan, we want to ensure that all people have that throughout the city.
