STORY CONTINUES BELOW THESE SALTWIRE VIDEOSDIGBY, N.S. — Digby RCMP say a weekend fire on a fishing vessel that spread to another boat is not suspicious.
RCMP and firefighters responded Saturday to a report of a fishing boat that was on fire at the Sandy Cove wharf in Digby County. “RCMP officers learned that a 36-foot fishing boat was on fire and the fire had spread to a second boat that was docked at the wharf,” RCMP said in a news release Sunday. After firefighters extinguished the fire, an investigation into its cause was conducted, RCMP said. Evidence, including statements and video surveillance, was obtained and reviewed.
“As a result of the evidence collected, the fire was determined to have been caused by the failure of electrical components on board the 36-foot fishing boat,” the release said. “The fire is not suspicious and the investigation has been concluded.”
