No new wildfires with 32 still active

There are currently 32 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region, including three that are under control but continue to burn near Greater Sudbury. Of these 32 fires, one is not under control, four are being held, eight fires are under control and 19 are being observed, Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services said in the latest report from the evening of July 7.

The three fires burning closest to the Nickel City are under control. Those fires are located in a remote area west of the city and north of Massey. The largest, Sudbury 17, is still listed at 5,857 hectares in size. The two smaller fires are Sudbury 10 at 1,370 hectares and Sudbury 19 at 459 hectares.
