Why Castle Hills may remove public drinking ban near schools and churches

City Council on Tuesday plans to waive its ban on alcohol in public for the event.On Tuesday night, the city of Castle Hills will weigh whether to waive its prohibition against the sale or consumption ofwithin 300 feet of a church or a public school during Fiesta Castle Hills on April 22.
This is routine for the 72-year-old community. For the past three years, it has granted waivers to theNew coffee shop in Castle Hills will also sell wine thanks to a special permit from the city The Castle Hills Police Department says it has had"no issues with this event in previous years and has no concerns in approving the waiver," according to backup material for Tuesday's meeting.
The annual event, which kicks off with a parade, will raise money for the Special Olympics Texas Best Friends Team. Last year, Fiesta Castle Hills raised $3,375 for the San Antonio Food Bank.
