Some gusts have already topped 55 mph, and more strong winds are expected to be blowing across many sections of the Garden State into Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning because of a big pressure gradient — or difference in atmospheric pressure — between the offshore nor’easter that’s moving up to New England and a high pressure system from the west that is moving closer to our region.
