Feral hogs trapped by the city of Dallas. Even big cities aren't immune to the feral hog problem, and nothing Texas has tried so far has been successful in controlling their population. With hogs destroying crops, property, and natural settings, exploring other options is critical. We need better methods to control these pigs because shooting them from helicopters or collecting them in traps is never going to keep pace with their ability to reproduce.
In other words, fear that poisoning the hogs would poison the food chain are not founded when the poison is used properly. Warfarin has a short half-life, leaving scavenging animals unharmed, Bodenchuk said. “That’s not a proved, valid concern,” he said. It’s worth noting that no other state has adopted this method. It’s also true that few other states suffer from feral hog destruction in the way Texas does.
