The Shropshire Star's Feed a Family campaign, which helped boost donations for food banks in our county in the face of the cost of living crisis, has been nominated in the Making a Difference Awards for newspaper campaigns! You can vote in the awards here:
The Feed a Family campaign has become an annual fixture for the Express & Star and Shropshire Star, in which both titles team up with foodbanks from across the region for a major push to stock up supplies ahead of Christmas.
The campaign was a success, with foodbanks involved saying they saw a big difference in donations, demonstrating the power and reach of local news brands. The campaign helped readers with what was best to donate and also provided regular updates and features for the campaign. The features focused on those who had volunteered their time for foodbanks, as well as also who benefitted from the support.
For the first time, the campaign was launched in summer 2022 instead, as a way to address the cost-of-living crisis for readers and to help support struggling families. As part of its mission to champion the news media industry, the NMA promotes the activities of local and national media marketing bodies Local Media Works and Newsworks.
