Feds: Driver of SUV involved in deadly forklift crash was kicked out of treatment FOX13
, killing one of the SUV’s passengers, was being driven by a defendant who had been kicked out of a treatment facility hours earlier and who was overdue to report to the U.S. District Court downtown.
Prosecutors said Thomas immediately began acting up at the facility, which finally kicked him out on Feb. 7. But, according to a memo filed Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the facility did not give notice to enable the U.S. Marshals Service to pick him up and take him into custody. Seattle police responded and said they found the driver of the forklift intoxicated; a breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be more than twice the legal limit, a police report said. He was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide.One person was killed and two others were injured following a crash involving a forklift, an SUV and a landscape truck in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood.
Vanessa Pai-Thompson, a public defender representing Thomas on the federal charges, was out of the office Thursday and Friday in advance of the holiday weekend and did not immediately return an email seeking comment.
