Federal Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced $75.9-million in funding on Tuesday to help workers clear a backlog of complaints from air passengers.

The Canadian Transportation Agency will deal with complaints about flight delays, cancellations and other concerns.“Travellers have rights, and these rights must be respected by airlines,” said Alghabra. “When airlines do not provide the reimbursement or compensation to which travellers are entitled, the Canadian Transportation Agency is there to ensure passenger rights are respected.

The federal government is also going to close a loophole that lets airlines deny customers compensation for cancelled flights.Ctrl+Enter
