Federal government appeals a ruling that found the Treasury Board acted in bad faith by delaying negotiations regarding PSAC dental plan.

“The board rendered an unreasonable decision by finding there was a breach of the duty to bargain in good faith…,” the government states, adding that was also unreasonable for the board to even find that it had jurisdiction to hear the complaint.

Potvin added that the Treasury board looks forward to “meaningful discussions with bargaining agents.” In the March decision, however, David Orfald with the labour board found that the duty to bargain in good faith, outlined in the labour relations act, extended to negotiations of the dental plan.Article content

Through its appeal, the government is seeking an order setting aside the labour board’s finding that the Treasury Board acted in bad faith, and that the labour board be made to reconsider the matter.
