Investigators are examining whether Walter 'Leo' Jackson, Sr., who died in 2018, committed other previously unsolved crimes.

DNA evidence links Ohio's Walter "Leo" Jackson, Sr., to the 1996 murders of Laura "Lollie" Winans and Julianne "Julie" Williams at a campsite in the Shenandoah Nnational Park. RICHMOND, Va. – The FBI says a convicted kidnapper and serial rapist from the Cleveland area who died in prison was the 1996 murderer of two female hikers in Shenandoah National Park.

Investigators say they used DNA evidence to link Walter “Leo” Jackson, Sr. to the crime. Jackson, a housepainter who went by the name “Leo,” died in an Ohio prison in March 2018 at age 70. He had a lengthy criminal history of kidnapping, rapes and assault. Investigators said they’re examining whether he could be linked to other unsolved cases.
