The FBI is investigating whether an agent was justified in shooting and killing a person Thursday morning during an apparent hostage rescue, officials said.

Connor Hagan, a spokesperson for the FBI's Houston office, said those scant details are all the bureau would be releasing Wednesday. The case remains part of an ongoing federal investigation, he said.
