Officers responded to the 3300 block of E. 17th Street about 1:10 a.m.
Police remained at the scene past 7 a.m. Tuesday to investigate, but they did not say what the motive may have been. No arrests have been made.
A year ago at this time, Oakland police had investigated 31 homicides. They investigated 134 in 2021, the town’s deadliest year since 2006. The California Highway Patrol also has investigated two freeway homicides within city limits this year. Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect or suspects in the shooting.
